I trust you will too.
Don’t Pick your skin
When caring for your skin it’s easy to naturally feel that you should be touching any blemishes or imperfections… Don’t! This is a horrible idea. You should always have a healthy skin routine where cleaning, exfoliation and hydration are involved. I also have a referral for a skincare routine or esthetician if you need one. Your skin is the largest organ in your body. Take care of it. Oh yeah, be sure to start applying sunscreen when you are outdoors enjoying the sun.
Exfoliate
A wonderfully relaxing experience can be had by using a grainy bath towel on your face and body. Exfoliate a few times before your visit, but be sure to allow the day before a treatment, as well as some days after the last, in case you find the time necessary.
Get A Facial
For best results, make certain you do a full facial two weeks before your photo shoot. If you regularly do facials, you may be giving your skin enough time to heal before your shoot. For those who just prefer not to spend a lot of money, a facial at home works wonders as well. Whatever you do take your time and enjoy this pamper session.
Wax Eyebrows
If you schedule an eyebrow wax or thread for at least a day in advance, you should be fine. I would prefer my clients to get all the maintenance work they need done a few days prior so that they won’t have skin irritations and other issues that could cause them to not be able to wear makeup for your photo session.
Hair
1 week before your photo shoot is the optimal time to touch up your hair dye. Be mindful to be realistic when changing your hair. If you decide to add hair dye then you want to give your hair time to get settled into the color before adding a new coat of dye. Sometimes when trying to lighten the hair, it takes a few tries to get it right. Check out my client’s hair at www.angeliamalbrewphotography.com
Get A Trim
If your hair has been a while since you last spent a trim, even a subtle trim could make a big impact.
Deep Conditions
Your salon can offer a professional conditioning treatment, or you can use your own preferred deep conditioner or protein pack. Put it together with your liquefied hair masque. Wrap a towel around your head, turban-style. Wear harem pants and imagine you’re a genie while you’re marinating. Alternatively, read a book. The choice is yours.
Hands
Get A Manicure
Off the top of your head, and while you’re at it, throw in your pedicure. Whether you’re hard on your manicures, book the mani-pedi of the day before your shoot. Many minimalists enjoy the way nails are shaped. Toenails can be displayed in any color. (Look into the clothing you’re getting ready to take with you and choose a hue that will work well with everything you choose to wear.) Using a toothbrush and toothpaste is a good way to clean your bling, but the majority of skilled jewelers have a sonic cleaner that works marvels as a restoration tool. Many jewelers will even clean your ring for free, especially if it’s the same jeweler you bought it from.
If you notice that it has been a long time since your last call to the goldsmith, take the ring in right away. There may be any loose stones in your setting that might get disturbed, so give it some time for the goldsmith to replace them if they need to be fixed. If it’s convenient for you, have it cleaned the day before your shoot again. Or you could go with some old toothbrush method the night before. You can even stop wearing it off the night before the cleaning and the shoot. Just don’t leave it at home. If you bring your guy to your photo shoot, ensure his nails are in order, and his ring is clean. Score bonus points if you can get him to step in for a few images with you.
Skin
If you opt for the waxing route, give yourself a day or two to get accustomed to the way it affects your skin. Shaving can be done the night before. Don’t forget to give your legs and underarms a wax as well. Pay attention to your bikini area as well. If you need a tan, book a spray tan 3-5 days before your photo shoot. Honestly, though, I love fair skin. If I were in charge, you’d skip tanning sessions and depend on your natural tone.
In any situation, remember that even if you have Photoshop at your disposal, you will ultimately enjoy the fact that your photos have captured your very best self. No matter how much preparation you engage in, there are things in your photography that will always remain the same. I am one of the best options for Arizona photography.
